Ecofriendly clothing use to be this term that the mainstream world looked down upon. Fast forward to 2019 and you’re seeing awareness being built. Granted, it’s nowhere near where we need it to be, it’s heading in a positive direction. Be Good Clothes has been created to curate ecofriendly clothing for men & women. Our goal is to not only display some amazing fashion items, but to share the details behind them. We are hoping that the journey that many ecofriendly retailers are taking translates to happy consumers in fashion and for the environment.
Eco Fashion on the Rise
Eco fashion simply put, are clothes made with raw materials without the use of pesticides. It’s clothing made from recycled textiles. In addition to the materials, eco fashion takes into account the workers involved in manufacturing these clothes. The clothing made by these would should have been paid a fair wage & worked under normal conditions. Essentially, basic human rights.
At the end of the day, if eco fashion is simply neutral “blah” looking clothing, it will never work. Fast forward to 2019 with a highly social conscious society, you’re seeing a fashion trend emerge with eco fashion. With a trend, it is now attracting a huge net of consumers that didn’t even know it existed last year. As a result, demand is bringing in some amazing designers, giving the eco fashion designs an incredible eye on fashion. Going green was a term many didn’t associate with fashion. If it was, it was in a boring clothing sense, not in a fashion sense. Those days are clearly over.
If there’s a downside to eco fashion, it’s price. The price point of eco fashion as a whole, it pricier than non ecofriendly clothing. While the price point has come down, it simply is higher. For some consumers, they welcome this higher price. For the larger remaining pool, getting eco fashion to a lower price point is needed for true acceptance of this type of fashion.
